Course Description
This course is an application of statistics in geology and hydrology, with an emphasis on concepts and processes, including principal concepts, descriptive statistics, multiple regression, random variables, probability distributions, and estimation and testing hypotheses.
Course Objectives
1 Summarizing and graphical analysis of geological data..
2. Multiple linear regression model, Regression parameters, ANOVA and building the model
3. Elementary of probability theory, Random variables and events, probability laws.
4 Application of common continuous and discrete probability distributions, such as Binomial and Poisson distributions, Normal and lognormal distributions.
5. Parameter estimation, testing statistical hypotheses. Case studies and examples
